About

The African American Family Conference (AAFC) is a community event which offers 8 distinct pavilions for families & communities, each consisting of workshops, resource tables, products and services. The 8 pavilions are Health & Fitness, Education, Children, Seniors, Family, Community, Teen and Arts & Culture. The AAFC has been carefully designed to unite practitioners, programs and educators with African American families to interact in open forums and workshops. This fosters the need to strengthen African American families and communities through communication and exchange of knowledge.

However, unlike other conferences, the African American Family Conference will take place in various cities across the country to produce and promote Aftercare Programs for families in the form of free workshops and seminars throughout the year.

The conference is the beginning of ongoing work that will unite diverse African American family units; dual and single parent households, co-parenting situations, grandparents raising grandchildren, foster parents and blended families. This concerted effort with agencies, programs and organizations will achieve stronger, sound family units which ultimately builds more cohesive communities, eliminating the number of violence, poverty and other negative social ills.
