Donation FAQ’s


1. Are monetary donations the only types of donations accepted?
No. The AAFC is maintained by volunteers who donate their time and labor. We also accept donations of books and supplies. If you are interested in donating your time or materials, please send an inquiry to info@AfricanAmericanFamilyConference.com.

2. How can I make a make a monetary donation?

3. Are U.S. donations to the AAFC tax deductible?
Yes. The AAFC is fiscally sponsored by The House of Reconciliation which is a 501(c)(3) organization designated by the I.R.S. Financial donations are tax deductible. However, at this time only donations of $25.00 and up will be tax deductible.

4. Does the AAFC accept donations via credit card?
Yes. Credit card donations can be made via PayPal and you do not need to be a PayPal member.

5. How will my contribution appear on my credit card statement?
When you make a donation it appears on your credit card statement as “AAFC Donation,” along with the amount of your contribution. If you become an AAFC Member with annual membership renewals, it will appear as “AAFC Subscription.”

6. If I become an AAFC Member how long will my subscription last?
Memberships are yearly. Once you have subscribed via PayPal, your membership will renew each year until you opt to cancel your subscription.  If you paid for your membership via U.S. Mail, you will receive your options via mail 30 days prior to your renewal date.

7. How can I donate if I don’t want to do it via the internet?

8. Can I obtain a receipt for my donation?
PayPal will generate a receipt for your donation. If you send a donation by mail, you will receive your receipt in the mail. Please make sure your name and mailing address are correct. Tax receipts are processed and forwarded  within 2-3 weeks of your donation.

9. How safe is my information? Will it be made available to your affiliates and other third parties?
When you donate to the African American Family Conference your name will never be given or sold to any other mailing list. 

10. Will my donation be used to compensate the salaries of the Founder or Board Members?
No.  Approximately 80% of the donations and additional income we receive supports the AAFC Aftercare programs. The remaining 20% is reserved for our 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor administrative fees, AAFC administration fees, professional support for outcome measurements and reporting, general, and fundraising costs. AAFC Administration fees includes fees associated with presenting and promoting the conference. The Founder as well as Board Members will conduct workshops at the AAFC and the AAFC Aftercare Program without compensation.
